Radish

Radish is well known as Japanese Radish as “Daikon”, which belongs to the Brassicaceae family. It can be found in varieties of colour, i.e. white, red, purple or black. Also, shape either it’s in long cylindrical or round shape. Parts of the radish can be eaten, i.e. the leaves, flowers, pods and seeds. It contains about 95 percent of water in proportion, making it an excellent source of hydration.

One of the major health benefits of radish are detoxification and digestion, as it increases the flow of gall to improve digestion. Another suggestion to aid digestion is to make a tea from the radish leaves. Put a handful of leaves in boiling water, then remove the pan from heat, cover it, and let the leaves simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the liquid into a cup, add honey if so desired, and drink.

Besides, the radish also has laxative properties, likely because of many vitamins found in it. Some of them are:

  • Anthocyanins
  • B6
  • Calcium
  • Folic
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Riboflavin
  • Vitamin A, B, C, D, E
  • Zinc.

Below are the benefits of radish that can help certain ailments and on certain body parts:

  • Asthma, Bronchitis and Respiratory Disorders: Radish is an anti congestive, i.e. it relieves congestion of respiratory system including nose, throat, wind-pipe and lungs, due to cold, infection, allergies and other causes. It is a good disinfectant, which protect respiratory system from infections.
  • Cancer: Radish helps many types of cancer, particularly those of colon, kidney, intestines, stomach and oral cancer.
  • Fever: It brings down the body temperature and relieves inflammation due to fever. Drink radish juice mixed with black salt. Being a good disinfectant, it helps to fights infections which cause fever.
  • Insect Bites: It has anti pruritic properties and can be used as an effective treatment for insect bites,stings of bees, hornets, wasps etc. Its juice also reduces pain and swelling and soothes the affected area.
  • Jaundice: Radish is miraculously useful in jaundice as it helps removing bilirubin and also checks its destruction of red blood cells during jaundice by increasing supply of fresh oxygen in the blood. The black radish or radish leaves are more preferred in jaundice treatment.

Grapes

Grapes is a small round or oval fruit, some grapes are seedless. Grapes is a rich source of flavonoids, this gives the vibrant purplish color to grapes , grape juice and red wine, the stronger the color, the higher the flavonoid content. It is a member of the grape genus vitis (family Vitaceae) with about 60 species native to the north temperate region, including variations that may be eaten as table fruit, dried to produce or crushed to make grape wine. In wine-making, Vitis vinifera is commonly used.

The health benefits of grapes include its ablity to treat constipation, indigestion, tiredness, kidney disorders, macular degeneration and prevention of cataract. Grapes, one of the most delicious fruits, are rich sources of vitamins A, C, B6 and folate in addition to essential minerals like potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and selenium. Grapes contain flavonoids that are very powerful antioxidants, which can reduce the damage caused by free radicals and slacken ageing.

  • Antibacterial activity: Red grapes have strong antibacterial and antiviral properties and can protect you from infections. They have a strong antiviral property against poliovirus and herpes simplex virus.
  • Anticancer properties: Grapes are found to have strong anti cancer properties due to the anti-inflammatory effect of resveratrol present in grapes. It is particularly effective in colorectal cancer and breast cancer. Anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins present in grapes have properties of an anti-proliferate and can inhibit the growth of cancer causing agents. Grape juice not just prevents the risk of cancer but also suppresses the growth and propagation of cancer cells. The pigments contained in grapes enhance the overall immunity of the body.
  • Asthma: Due to its eminent therapeutic value, grapes can be used for cure of asthma. In addition to it, the assimilatory power of grapes is also higher. It increases the moisture present in lungs.
  • Alzheimer’s disease: Resveratrol, a beneficial polyphenol present in grapes reduces the levels of amyloidal-beta peptides in patients with Alzheimer‘s disease. Studies suggest that grapes can enhance brain health and stall the onset of neurodegenerative diseases.

Apple trees can range in size from 6 to 30 feet in height, depending on the variety and type of rootstock (dwarf, semi-dwarf, etc.)

It is a fruit of the genus Malus (about 25 species) belonging to the family Rosaceae, the most widely cultivated fruit tree. The apple is one of the fleshy fruits in which the ripened ovary and surrounding tissue both become fleshy and edible. The apple flower of most varieties requires cross pollination for fertilisation and a desirable fruit set by 2% to 3% bloom.
